Note that Beehive Wool Shop is not associated with these groups and cannot verify their activity or membership. Help us keep this list up to date, and let us know if you have any concerns regarding the groups listed below. 

Social Crafting Groups

• The Hive at Herald Street: Join the Beehive community for drop-in social knitting and crocheting. Hosted at Herald Street Brew Works (506 Herald St) on the last Sunday of each month from 1-3pm. Everyone welcome; minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• Fibre Maker Space: 2 days and locations! A social and creative space to learn, share, and create. Drop-in Thursdays 10am-12pm at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre (471 Cecelia Road) or Mondays 12:30-3pm at the Victoria West Community Centre (521 Craigflower Road). Sewing machine and table space are provided; please bring your own project and materials. Everyone welcome. 
• It's Knit! Drop-in Crafters Group: Held on a Sunday, mid-month every month from 6-8pm at Small Gods Brewing Co (9835 Third Street, Sidney). See Small Gods Brewing Co. for more details!
• Craft Night: Every Wednesday from 6-8 pm at North Park Neighbourhood Association Community Room (1025 Mason St). Bring your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, or any other craft you love! Everyone welcome.
• Knit & Crafts Circle: Hosted by Victoria Native Friendship Centre on Zoom; everyone welcome. For zoom link and password, contact by email to culture AT vnfc.ca , Instagram at @culture.vnfc on Instagram , or Facebook at Culture VNFC.
• James Bay Knitters is an open group of knitters and crocheters and everyone is welcome to join for an evening of fibre fun. Meet-ups are informal and any changes to the meeting dates/location is posted in the Facebook Group. Typically Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm at the Bent Mast Pub (512 Simcoe Street).

Requests for Donations

• Burnside Gorge Community Centre Fibre Maker Space is accepting donations of excess yarns, fabric, thread etc. to share with the community.
• James Bay New Horizons accepts donations of yarn, needles, hooks, fabric and notions. The group's crafters make items to sell throughout the year. All money raised goes to the centre in support of its programs and services.
• Our Place Society accepts donations for their knitting and crochet club. Donors can drop items at 919 Pandora Ave between 8:00 - 6:00, 7 days a week. Please tell someone at the front desk that it’s a knitting donation, so they can store it in the right place. Alternately, items may be dropped off at 1027 Pandora, by calling ahead to Melissa: 250-940-5060 ext. 5103.
• SUPPLY Victoria Creative Reuse Centre redistributes used art, office, and school supplies through their low-cost used supply store and programs and offers creative reuse classes to youth and adults. Please ensure that you read their donation guidelines!

Charity Crafting

• Soap for Hope Fresh Faces Program: Through our Fresh Faces Program we deliver 20,000 facecloth and soap packages across BC and Alberta to seniors, kids and families in need. Fresh Faces is only made possible through our incredible network of volunteers made up of seniors and community members dedicated to knitting for a cause; One volunteer, a 93-year-old Courtenay native known as ‘mom’, makes 300 facecloths at a time and drives to our Vic West warehouse to hand deliver her donations. Not only does Fresh Faces drive community engagement it also gives seniors and community members a sense of purpose. Currently, our budget has been stretched thin as the cost of living and community needs are both rising so we are asking for help from the Beehive community. If you have any cotton yarn that isn’t the colour you wanted, or there isn’t enough left for the project your working on please consider donating it to us! We are also always looking for spare hands to knit. If you would like to join this project, please email relations(at)soapforhope.ca.  
• Loose Ends Project: Finishing projects loved ones left behind. Loose Ends connects unfinished knit/crochet/quilt projects to volunteer finishers who complete and return the projects to their intended recipients.
• Seniors Serving Seniors is seeking knitters who would help make toques and mitts for the children and families at Cridge Centre. Contact Vicki ed AT ssbc.org or 250-413-3211

Garment Repairs

• The Russian Tailor: Will repair small holes, fix seams, and do alterations. They will not re-knit your project or be able to fix large holes.

Custom Makers

• Story Sweaters is a home-based business founded by Jennifer's Knitting Studio, located in Cobble Hill. Jennifer is a self-taught knitter and designer; her designs are inspired by the Island's rainforests and oceans, and the creatures who call them home.
• Inanook (Rebecca) regularly takes knitting commissions. You can see her work on Instagram and Facebook (@inanook) and can contact her there, or at her email: rebeccanook AT gmail DOT com.
